new day for Havana
i wish i could cook has a few really good words to say about Havana 59:
… we started with tuna carpaccio with edamame salsa. Wha-what? It was divine! A heaping pile of edamame, garlic, onions, etc. sat atop blood red, sliced-to-the-point-of-transparent tuna medallions, all pooled in a soy and garlic sauce. Heaven heaven heaven.

Ripp cleared of charges
nbc12 is reporting that former Richmond restaurateur Michael Ripp was cleared of embezzlement charges yesterday. Ripp, the owner of 3 Shockoe Bottom restaurants at the time (Havana 59, City Bar and Rotisserie and O’Brienstein’s Pub & Delicatessen), had been accused of misusing thousands of dollars in meal taxes owed to the city.
