Paul Hammond went on yesterday’s Downtown Loft Tour and has a write-up on Manchester’s Decatur building, with promises of more to come.

The Downtown Loft Tour 2009 will have busses and folks back and forth between 10AM-5PM today. Shamrock the Block will be going on from noon-6PM and will necessitate the closing of Grace, Franklin, and 17th Streets.

Venture Richmond has announced their second annual Downtown Loft Tour featuring 15 lofts and condos in Shockoe Slip, Shockoe Bottom, Jackson Ward, Manchester, Rocketts Landing, and along the Riverfront/ Canal Walk. The loft tour will be March 28 from 10AM – 5PM. Advance tickets are $20 which includes parking and transportation.

“I loved seeing the creative reuse of these buildings. I was really impressed by the mixture of adaptive reuse and new construction at the Reserve,” Daab points out. “But the greatest part of the tour was when I realized later that my Saturday consisted of touring beautiful loft living spaces, attending an intimate acoustic concert in a new gallery space, and [sharing] a meal and drinks with friends in a tavern, all within blocks of each other in an area of the city that would have been deserted on a Saturday night just a few years ago.”
