Jazz on the Hill on Brown’s Island in September

The First Annual Jazz on the Hill 5K Music Festival takes place on and around Brown’s Island on September 12th:

Join the fun as we raise awareness and money to keep Jazz alive in Richmond for our youth. The Rhythm Section Foundation, Take Me to Happy Hour.com presents the 5K and the Music Festival featuring independent artist from all genres. This family event will feature food and merchandise vendors. We invite all to take a part in our run/walk. The top two finishers will win cash and merchandise prizes. Runners are invited to stay for the party.

XTERRA East Championship hits Brown’s Island on Sunday

The XTERRA East Championship come to Brown’s Island on Sunday:

The XTERRA East Championship is one of five off-road triathon XTERRA Championship races leading to the XTERRA USA Championship in Ogden, UT. In addition to qualifying athletes for the 2010 XTERRA World Championship on Maui, the full distance race is also a qualifier for Team USA and the 2011 ITU World Championship Cross Triathlon.

World Beer Festival stops at Brown’s Island

The World Beer Festival took over Brown’s Island on Saturday:

Set up as a giant outdoor beer tasting, the World Beer Festival provided the opportunity to try small samples from a range or brewers. Presented by FETCH-A-Cure and produced by All About Beer Magazine, the mission of the event is to “educate the public in beer appreciation and beer quality, and to build the local beer community”. The folks behind the taps were certainly ready to talk about their brews and share what they’d brought.

World Beer Festival moves to Spring 2010

All About Beer Magazine announced that the World Beer Festival scheduled for August 29 in Richmond will be held instead in the spring of 2010. They will announce the new date as soon as possible. No reason was given to explain the date change.

record breaking crowd at friday cheers

Venture Richmond is reporting that this past week’s Friday Cheers featuring Zac Brown Band. 

A record breaking 16,000 people consumed a record breaking quantity of beverages and donated a record breaking amount of money to the “Keep the Music Free” fund, making the night a very special one in this 25th Anniversary year for Friday Cheers.
