Riverfront Petition kick-off on Wednesday
The will be an event on Wednesday, October 14 from 5-7PM launching The Riverfront Petition. Sponsored by Together We Stand, Partnership for Smarter Growth, Scenic Virginia, and the Alliance to Conserve Old RIchmond Neighborhoods, the petition is intended demonstrate the number of people “who support public ownership of all riverfront land along the north bank of the James RIver in the East End”.

ACORN wants to restore creek in Shockoe Bottom
Style Weekly has the story on an interesting idea for Shockoe Bottom: restore a creek that used to run through the neighborhood. ACORN, citing the need for more water features and restoring nature, believes that the creek would be a better alternative to the Shockoe Center project.

1428 Bainbridge Street wins ACORN Golden Hammer
ACORN announced the 2008 Golden Hammer winners last week and 1428 Bainbridge Street got the nod for Best Residential Renovation, The National Theater won for Best Commercial Renovation, and The Reserve Condominiums won for Best Urban Infill.

ACORN honors renovation, new construction
ACORN held the 9th Annual Golden Hammer Awards Ceremony tonight at Seven Hills School in Northside. In addition to recognizing the previously announced 2008 special award winners, 1428 Bainbridge Street won for Best Residential Renovation, The National Theater won for Best Commercial Renovation, and The Reserve Condominiums won for Best Urban Infill. Congratulations!

ACORN has moved, calls for Golden Hammer nominees
The Alliance to Conserve Old Richmond Neighborhoods (ACORN) has moved to a new home across the cobblestones to 104 Shockoe Slip. They’ve also put the call out for 2008 Golden Hammer nominees. If you know of an outstanding renovation in the city of Richmond (one that has been or will be completed between the dates of 8/17/07 and 8/15/08)– tell’em about it and help recognize the “good work of those dedicated to restoring vitality to our oldest neighborhoods”.
