baseball in the Bottom?
The RTD is reporting that the city has chosen a company to develop public property along North Boulevard and in Shockoe Bottom, with plans that include a new baseball stadium downtown:
The plan calls for a new baseball stadium, but it would be in Shockoe Bottom — and not near The Diamond on almost 60 acres of city property along the Boulevard and Hermitage Road [...]

pushing for a stadium in Shockoe (again?)
Richmond Mayor L. Douglas Wilder this week suggested that the area in which The Diamond is located may no longer be the best site for a baseball stadium. He added that developers and consultants agree that Shockoe Bottom might be a good ballpark site. Bostic’s group has advocated a stadium in Shockoe Bottom since the Braves announced their move in January, though the plan has not been made public.

30th anniversary RVA marathon
Celebrate the 30th anniversary of “America’s Friendliest Marathon” when the SunTrust Richmond Marathon takes place this coming Saturday. Roads will be closed, of course, and there will be finish line activities at Cary and 12th Streets.
