Sex for sale at Club Velvet

It came out in court today that agents paid for sex acts at Club Velvet:

Two state Alcoholic Beverage Control agents testified today that they paid to watch sex between two female dancers at a Richmond strip club and had lap dances performed on themselves as part of an undercover investigation in late 2007 and early 2008.

Can’t say I am shocked. What do you think happens at Strip Clubs? Wholesome family entertainment?

Man, I’m moving to Market Slip Apartments soon, right nearby this club. Should be an “interesting” neighbor.

Hopefully, Sam will go down and as a consequence that extremely offensive banner will go down as well. That club is at the gateway into downtown and the club is embarrassment enough without his ‘political’ (read: racist) statement. If any other club in the bottom was caught selling sex, cocaine, and alcohol to underage kids, they would definately be closed. Let’s hope the system works. Otherwise, why not let all the clubs in the Bottom follow Sam’s rules.

Next thing we know they’ll be taking their clothes off in exchange for money.

These ABC guys know how to party!

Uh, yeah it’s a strip club not a grocery store, what were they expecting? And as for all the “other clubs down in the bottom” I’m sure they are doing similar things. I’m willing to bet anonymous is pretty naive to things that go around them. I drive down boulevard to pick up my dog and see about 3 drug deals a week. No other reason for a guy to walk up to another guy hand them a small packet, then give that guy 10 bucks. Open your eyes Richmond just say you don’t like this Sam person, as for me, he doesn’t seem that much different than anyone else.

Wow. You’re close enough to see the denomination of the bill? I hope you’ve been calling the police.

If Sam seems no different from anyone else you know then I think you should find another crowd to hang with.

#7: This is a gross overstatement. I am sure there are other “shady” business owners in Richmond, but most owners do follow the law. However, like you said, it is a strip club and most of these types of establishments really tread a thin line between what is legal and what is not – they just have not been caught yet.

There has been recent push in the Bottom by undercover agents to catch bartenders serving underage customers – just ask anyone that works in a bar there. An underage person is sent in to attempt to purchase alcohol. This type of operation goes down at least once a year. The folks I talked to, though, asked for ID and did not serve the person. Don’t know if anyone else has been caught.

Well, I have a close relative, young, who told me years ago this was an operation of prostitution and laughed that people were shocked when they heard. If this young person knew years ago, the cops must have too. I think it was more a blind eye and who knows what else on the behalf of our gov’t officials.

Sam has no use for your lukewarm approval that plagues. The despotic totalitarian forces that Sam confronts relies completely on him being a spectacle. The solidity, strength, and homogeneity of the media, law enforcement, city council, IRS, ATF, FBI and popular opinion masks the inequality, oppression, and violence within us all; tantamount to the persecution Christ received. Truly a sign of imminent danger for all when a nation begins holding displays of its prowess, such a display is nearly always the corollary for an act of imperialist-style violence, the justification for the subjugation of a person who fail to meet its lofty standards. Ridicule Sam with your false regality and fraudulent grandeur and retire fondling your withered genitalia.

#3 – Um, put down the race card. If someone doesn’t like our president’s policy, it’s their right to paint a sign about it on there own private property (or mural, whatever the ordinance calls for). I beleive the painting said ’socialist’ – where do you read racism in this? I think maybe you should look in the mirror for the racist. You know in some countries you can be hanged for critiquing those who govern. Glad that’s not the case here.

Answer this: Was any african american who critized Bush’s political policy a racist? (and we all know there was plenty to criticize!!!)

Let’s face it. Richmond doesn’t want a Strip Club in that location. They have made velvet a target of the conservatives. As far as the banner, that is freedom of speech, but that draws the eye of the liberals. I am not sure scissoring constitutes sex, that is a whole other debate. And if two women can have sex, why can’t they marry.
