urban farmhouse market and cafe

An article in last month’s Richmond magazine briefly mentioned a new organic coffee shop coming to Shockoe Slip in the R.V. Cole building. After being reminded by a reader and seeing signs of progress in the window, when will the Urban Farmhouse Market & Cafe open? Has anyone heard anything?

Maybe this will inspire Shockoe coffee to keep reasonable (or at least predictable) hours.

I can hardly wait. Ever since Relish left, I’ve been jonesing for a healthier, organic option downtown. Hopefully, this is it!

Shockoe Espresso made a child cry yesterday because they were closed at 6pm, and then the firefighters couldn’t get a cup of coffee — weak.

They made it all they way to 6pm? Wow they are really burning the late afternoon oil! I have not seen them open past 5pm in months.

I totally understand closing at 5 (or 6)though, it is not like anyone is ever in Shockoe Slip in the evening. Well I mean, besides those people buying stuff.

this is just what shockoe bottom needs. another slick, overpriced restaurant who justifies its pricing by hiding behind the word “organic.” in this economy…good luck.

rjenk this is in the Slip, not the Bottom. i know it’s only a few blocks away but when you have a limited amount of time for lunch it makes a world of difference. i’m also not aware of any “slick overpriced” restaurants in the area, and i don’t know what “hiding behind the word organic” entails. i can only imagine you prefer corporate chains with dollar menus.
