Rocketts Landing Marina slips are way over priced. $3600 to rent a floating dock on that part of the James?

$300/month, paid a year up front, for a floating dock. No fueling station. No storage. Jordan point is only $1500. Marinas on beautiful stretches of the Chesapeake are much cheaper. Rocketts: You need to reconsider your price. The slips are built, cost sunk. At the right price, you should fill them and have a waiting list for the next phase. That price is not $3600 (30 ft) - I would guess at the discounted $2880 you did not get as many as you would like filled...maybe...$2880 is getting more reasonable. I believe closer $2,000 is the sweet spot.

The marina is a great idea and location for Richmond. Cost for 2010 is: if you sign up before the 15th of February you will receive a 20% discount off the rate, which would be $2880.00. After Feb 15th the cost would be $3600.00.
Slips can be had at Jordan Point Marina or Hopewell Yacht Club. Cheaper still are in Deltaville/Mathews and Callao.

I thought a marina would be cool, but I wonder how many people will lease slips at Rockett's marina. A Times Dispatch article from awhile back had said around $3000 to $5000 a year if I remember. That's way more expensive than the marina's on the Chesapeake Bay. Can't imagine they'll fill all the slips at that cost. Hopefully when / if the city marina is built, the city's marina will be less expensive.
