disappointing but not surprising

Damned Dirty Apes, the local blog seeking to promote change by documenting “just how filthy we are as human beings”, catches a disappointing moment at Ancarrow’s Landing.

Glad to see Damned Dirty Apes on here. They do a great job.

I was also disappointed in the volume level of the LL Cool J concert from Brown’s Island. I understand it is Labor Day weekend and it was Saturday night. I appreciate that it was over by 11. Although I am not a huge fan, I do sometimes listen and enjoy rap music, including LL Cool J. I am pretty tolerant of concerts and fireworks since I live near downtown and Brown’s Island.

Given all those things, I was not surprised to read that less than a 1000 people attended. I guess most of the City could hear the whole thing without paying no matter if they wanted to or not. I think Venture Richmond/Richmond Riverfront Development Corporation, which own Brown’s Island, better reconsider how loud they let these concerts get. My neighborhood association has sent polite letters in the past and worked with organizers at Brown’s Island and Tredegar Iron Works to adjust tolerant volume levels. But if these tolerant volume levels are not going to be adhered to then I do expect the City authorities to step in.

I don’t like to call an LL Cool J noise pollution, but it was at unnecessary volume levels last night.
