low water levels in the James River may lead to restrictions
The recent dry weather pattern has caused low water levels in the James River. bikes and GRTC?
The question is asked: “What is like to use the bike racks on the GRTC busses?”
Has anyone here taken their bike on the GRTC? I know they have bike racks on the front, but I want personal experiences. Is it a hassle to deal with? Do the drivers and passengers glare at you for the time it takes to get the bike on and off the rack? Is the rack ever too full to put your bike on? What do you do then?

all of the farmers’ markets and a “what if” for 17th Street
Buttermilk&Molasses’ Fresh Ideas for Ripening Vegetables gives a recap of the recent farmers’ markets dust-up and and asks a few big questions:
How about the 17th Street Farmer’s Market re-roofed and enclosed with good parking, and operating as a central hub for local truck farmers bringing goods to market and for local retailers looking for quality, local produce? [...] With all of this fresh, local energy in the Richmond area, you have to wonder why the City of Richmond isn’t making a more focused investment in the future of the 17th Street Farmer’s Market — both as a destination for residents of the region and tourists, and as a bit of an economic engine for downtown Richmond.

voluntary water conservation in effect
The City of Richmond Department of Public Utilities announced effective today the implementation of voluntary conservation measures. This declaration comes as a result of the recent dry weather pattern that has caused low water levels in the James River. Voluntary compliance will assist local governments in providing water to all customers in the region, while also meeting the requirements of the James River Regional Flow Management Plan. This plan calls for the implementation of voluntary conservation measures once water levels in the James River reach 1,200 cfs (cubic feet per second) or approximately 3 ½ or 3 ¾ feet of depth.
