The Business of Being Born @ GlobeHopper
Back Porch @ GlobeHopper is tonight:
This Monday July 27, we will view clips from The Business of Being Born which explores the political, scientific and environmental implications of our current maternity care system. Prompted to explore modern delivery practices after the birth of her first child, actress Ricki Lake recruited filmmaker Abby Epstein to explore and document the ins and outs of the modern American Birth Care system. Join birth activist and educator Thérèse Hak-Kuhn to talk about the advantages and disadvantages of the current American birth system and to discuss the possible benefits of choosing alternatives to hospital birth.
GlobeHopper, located at 2100 E Main Street, is home to a weekly forum of open issue-based community discussions. Back Porch moderates multi-media discussions based on social topics of social-interest. Gathering begins at 6:30pm, multi-media discussion begins promptly at 7:00pm.

I hope I can find a sitter and make it to this event.
I hate to be cliched, but this movie changed my life (and my wife’s). I recommend seeing the whole thing and checking out these sites:

ps: Richmond hospitals are c-section factories (36-41%). Enter at your own risk (but, you CAN have the birth you want, whereever you want - even a hospital. We did.).
