Cafe Gutenberg at 5 years…

Style Weekly’s restaurant roundup Short Order gives an update on Cafe Gutenberg. With new front-of-house manager Gershom Wynn (Karsen’s, Escabar and Metro) joining executive chef/general manager Jen Mindel and chef Garrett Berry, the restaurant continues to serve up simple fine dining that is “local, seasonable, lively and affordable”.

Read the article in Style, the food looks good but it said that Gutenberg is no longer a coffee shop. Does that mean no more Illy coffee?

They’ve always had a full menu, but got the label of being a coffee shop. I think it is that they want to get more attention for the food that they are preparing, rather than that they are getting rid of the Illy.

whew! It is hard to not be known for coffee when you’re serving Illy.

Times like this I wish I drank coffee, just so I could know what Illy is! =-)

It’s $3 for one paper cup of black coffee at Gutenberg.

You can also get your Illy fix at Southern Railway Deli

I haven’t been there in a long time but when I do go, I enjoy the Illy espresso –I can make regular coffee at home –and the books…have they gotten rid of the books?

Sorry, can’t help to plug SAVOR in Manchester, we serve Illy espresso, too (I think it is one of the best espresso in the world), along with their fine Parisian Damman Iced Tea and Richmond’s own Rostov’s coffee.
