help us take it up a notch

Wanna help River District News really get good? Do you know of a restaurant opening soon? A building that will be restored or demolished? A great musician, poet, or artist that will be in town? Interested in writing about that concert that you went to?

  • Send in stories. Have you noticed something that ought to be getting more attention? Write it up or send in something for us to follow-up on. Contributions from people JUST LIKE YOU are the life blood of a good community news blog.
  • Write about events in the area. We’d love to run articles after the concerts, festivals, neighborhood meetings, art openings, sporting events, book talks, poetry readings, open discussions, etc. that happen. If you go to something that other people would want to know about, write it up and send it in. Bonus karma if you attach a photo.
  • Take a good photo. Take a good photo of something/someone/somewhere of the area and send us the photo or a link to the Flickr page or whatever. Find a theme and put together a photo essay – the Farmer’s Market, the river, the canal, next weekend’s adventure games, the shops along Cary Street or restaurants in Shockoe…
  • Let us know about events. The calendar is only as good as the information that it contains.
  • Become a part of the RDN team. If you become a regular contributor and are interested, you can eventually get direct access to the site and possible a ridiculously small amount of money. I would love to have a team of contributors really making this pop.
