Finally some Thai food in this town.

Hopefully we’ll get some sushi around here soon!

We ate caryout from there on Saturday night. The food was good (but not as good as Tara Thai). I especially liked the eggplant with chili and garlic sauce.
The restaurant is named for the owner’s 5-year-old son. And the owner’s sister is the chef. A family-run business in the truest sense, as they live above the restaurant.
Nice, nice people. New to the area, so go make them feel welcome!

Oh, here is their phone number for caryout - 343-3934. They are open every day. 11 am - 10 p.m. (noon to 11 p.m on weekends)

“Hopefully we’ll get some sushi around here soon!”

    Like Sumo San or Niwanohana?

I think that was sarcasm. Maybe Nara or Sticky Rice or Moshi Moshi or Ninja Sushi or Kabuto?

Not to mention the Thai places like Ginger or Elephant Thai or the Thai Room.

As much as I *love* Chadar Thai, it’s nice to have Thai food on this side of town.

The BEST sushi is Akido on Robinson.

I went there for dinner last night. I had the Pad See-Ew with tofu, and it was delicious! The staff were very friendly and incredibly fast with their service. I encourage everyone to go there, check them out, and support this new local business.

How could anyone look at our restaurants and think “Hmm you know what Richmond needs? MORE THAI FOOD.” that being said, this actually makes me hungry for Thai food, which maybe I will get tonight. WHICH TO CHOOSE?

    Thai Diner hello.

Thai diner *my ass*: you haven’t been to Chadar, have you?

  12. posted by Susan at May 1, 2008 5:24 pm :

I have not! But now I want to. What we all need is a huge Thai restaurant food festival roundup with blind taste tests. And boxing matches.

I think the point is that it is so good to have Thai food in the heart of the city. I ate at Alex’s the other night and found it better than Thai Diner (not as good as Tara Thai, but about the same as Mom’s). Unlike those other places, I can walk to Alex’s! Now, can’t wait for the new Ethiopian place to open. Viva la Bottom!

  14. posted by Justin at May 16, 2008 1:38 pm :

ate there last night for dinner and today for lunch. the food really is superb. i’m a huge fan of Thai food and have eaten it all over the city and surrounding areas and all over the country (with a planned trip to Thailand in September), but personally, i think Mom’s Siam still takes the cake.

My husband and I have finally gotten down here to eat! Good food, great service - very nice people! Sorry to see it wasn’t busier but we will definitely go back!

As these guys live across the alley from me, I am addicted to them. Its great to walk out my back door, into theirs and sit down to what I think is just AWESOME Thai food. Alex will generally hit me with his Indiana Jones musical whip, but its worth it.

The family is great, food is practically perfect in every way, and its SUPER CHEAP!

    EAT AT ALEX’S!
