Ethiopian restaurant for 17th Street

ethiopian_restaurant.jpg

An eagle-eyed reader sent us a photo of the accidentally exposed marquee at the former Wildcats/Moondance location (9 North 17th Street). Yummy!

For a list of all Ethiopian restaurants, I recommend this Ethiopian Portal website:

    http://www.EthioPortal.com

The restaurants link is found at the top right corner.

What’s the deal with Ethiopian restaurants being all the rage?

The food’s OK (I’ve had it from another place) …BUT, C’mon. I can’t see how this will last long term. If Cafe Gutenberg didn’t last…..well…..

It is because there is an influx of Ethopian immigrants moving down from DC. Right now, DC has the largest population of Ethiopian immigrants in the United States. A lot of them have decided that the DC metro area is too expensive and too congested to live in, so many are trying to start new communities in other areas.

As far as Ethiopian cuisine goes, I have eated in several places and the food has really varied, so I will wait until it opens and try it for myself.
