One Response to “SBNA monthly meeting tonight”

  1. posted by john m at January 26, 2008 7:50 pm [#]:

Thanks to all who attended Monday night’s meeting of the Shockoe Bottom Neighborhood Association! Your attendance is appreciated.

If you were unable to attend, lets bring you up to speed with an informal summary of our meeting.

-Rezoning solicitations for the Lucky Strike maintenance garage, Harper Hardware building, McDonalds parcel, and for 110 S. 15th St. were all deferred to the next meeting due to lack of enough information to vote on these projects.

-Some nuisance issues along 18th Street were brought to our attention including parking of vehicles in unauthorized zones and raw garbage being placed on the sidewalk by a restaurant along that street. We have solicited the city’s involvement in addressing these issues and work has already begun.

-An entertainment committee was formed in support of bringing more outdoor events to our neighborhood in the coming months. If you are interested in serving on this committee please join us at our next meeting so that we can get the ball rolling on this one.

-It was suggested by a member that we better utilize our new Main Street Plaza and the Farmers Market as the facilities for these events. Please give us your opinions at our next meeting.

-Announcement was made of draft of a new nightclub ordinance and a meeting will be held on February 5th to further discuss this ordinance. The SBNA will be represented at this meeting.

-Planning was begun for our Shockoe Bottom web site. Thank you to Tommy Hicks for committing his time and talent to make this happen!

Reminder: Dues are now due for the year 2008 as follows:
    $25 for residents
    $50 for businesses
Please send your check to The Shockoe Bottom Neighborhood Association
    1548 East Main Street
    Suite B
    Richmond, VA 23219
A receipt will be returned to you. You may also contact Dave Hughes at (804) 200-3323 and he will pick your payment up from you. Payment is necessary in order to vote at the meetings.

Plan to attend our next meeting on February 18th at 5:30p.m. The location will be announced in short time.
