light rail from Shockoe to Short Pump, maybe

The city is working on “a fast-paced bus service to run from Shockoe Bottom and downtown Richmond to Willow Lawn”, with plans to extend the route to Short Pump. Sheila Hill-Christian, Richmond’s chief administrative officer, said that this line will be “a precursor to light rail development, which is so strongly needed.” [via]

    I think this is a great idea. The population is growing and expanding. It does not make sense not to provide transportation to and from the City and surrounding counties. Parking in downtown is horrible and just look at the number of vehicles on the highway. Hats off to this wonderful vision. My hope is to see very soon the words “MAYBE” changed to “COMING SOON”…
