The city must not realize they can use the "takings" clause and condemn this trashy establishment. What an eyesore. Not incluing the degenerate loser whose parents died and left his worthless rear money to carry on the establishment which sits in the center of a city with a ton of potential. A disgrace...like the owner!

WHAT?? This is a sad day. I loved that mural of Princess Di especially her skull tiara. Other cities pay Ed Trask to paint on their buildings, but here in Richmond we erase it. So at Christmas, Velvets had good ole Santa Claus on the corner with a paper bikini girl (try explaining that to your kid) and now they've erased Princess Di? I'm starting to question their taste....

My friend Jon T. needs to know about this and tell his mom. She was pretty scarred by the scene of Princess Di on the side of a strip club.

I noticed her absence this morning on my way back from a doctor's appointment. It was almost enough to make me wonder if I'd zoned out and taken the wrong exit back into the city.

It seems that the Hummers now are in the parking lot across the street, but maybe that was just so the painters could park close.

I doubt the mural was painted over due to regulations - check out the link to Edward Trask's site - he's done numerous murals around town....

We loved the mural! It was a Richmond landmark. Does anyone know if it was painted over because of arcane city regulations banning murals or if it was the owners of the nightclub?

And speaking of the nightclub, are those spotlights on top of the roof really legal? And how about the obnoxious guy dressed as Santa or at other times Howard Stern holding up ad placards and a cardboard stripper? Don't you need permits for that? I'm fine with a strip club there, but I think their advertising schemes (along with the Hummers) have gone too far.

I probably should take a picture for a before-and-after, but forgot to grab the camera today :)

I'm curious if they are going to do anything in its place other than just being white...

WHAT! This is a travesty! I will only be placated if it is replaced with a mural of:

* Grace Kelly
* Rosanne Barr
* A shark
* Richard Simmons

i will be sad to drive past this spot and not see her face. i got "over" the oversized nose years ago and grew to love this mural. i'm truly sad to see her go. she was the only beautiful thing about that corner. apparently, the strip joint business is booming, despite better taste; have you seen those 2 hummers that are often parked out front? ugly.
