towards a great hookah bar

Style Weekly reviews Bubbling, the hookah bar in the old River City Diner spot, and describes the Mediterranean food as “some of the best in the city”. It sounds like the ambiance is weak, though, with everything being served on clamshell boxes made of Styrofoam and no real investment in the atmosphere. Oh yeah, they don’t serve alcohol and only take cash.

I ate here last Friday night. I don’t recommend the Tabouli however friends raved about the gyros and falafel. Several of us sat at a separate table and enjoyed a Hookah packed with a tasty apple tobacco. It had been years since I smoked one and forgot how amazingly relaxing it is! Hopefully the owner takes some cues from the review and tries to up the ambiance a bit. It’s definitely too bright in there and real plates and a sign would go a long ways.

Actually, they take cards. The owner opened Aladdin’s before he sold his interest. His kids help out with the wait staff and are short cooks. If any of these blocks were relevant they would have realized that the place is nostalgic for richmond and not just short of atmosphere and P.S. they deliver.

They are very sexist in that they treat their female costumers very different from their male costumers. They treated us very disrespectfully, despite the fact that we have been regular costumers for some time now. We will not go there every again after how they treated us tonight.
